Green spaces in cities: The Phoenix Community Garden, central London

This small park behind Charing Cross Road was developed in 1984 after lobbying by the Covent Garden Open Spaces Association. Previously a car park (and before that a World War 2 bomb site), the site has become an oasis of vegetation and wildlife in the heart of central London. Background: St. Giles-in-the-fields parish church.
