The Dounreay Fast Reactor, Scotland The Dounreay Dome housed the first of two now-closed fast breeder reactors that have operated at this location as well as a materials testing reactor (visible on the left), nuclear fuel manufacturing and reprocessing plants and neighbouring HMS Vulcan, the Navy’s land-based nuclear submarine reactor.
